After their basic training in Madras, they were further trained at the Diyathalawa Army Training Centre and passed out there and among the Officers of the Intake 5, 10 Officers were promoted to Major Generals and Seven Officers were promoted to Brigadiers, Five Officers to Colnels, two to Majors and the other Officers retired pre-maturely. They have become Professionals in their fields.
Among the Major Generals, Major General Paramai Kulatunge was killed in action and the other officers, Major General Sunil Tennakoon, Hema Thibbatumunuwe, Jayantha Ranaweera, Seevali Wanigasekera, Gamini Jayasundera, Nimal Krishnaratne, Lal Fernando and Priyantha Samaratunge contributed immensely in the operational duty in the War Zone areas.
Among the Brigadiers were Sri Mudannayake, Kumban Bohoran, Asoka Unantenna, Nimal Alwis, Lal Wijesuriya, Lanka Jayaratne, who were in Operational Duty in the War Zone areas. During
1971 and 2005 period, most of the Officers were on active duties and a few Officers continued in active duties till end of 2013.
During 1972 and 2005, most of the Officers had to carry out responsible assignments, which were highly successful.
A majority of the Officers had served their Motherland for 35 years with the guidance and assistance of other Senior Officers and rendered their maximum, generous service to the Nation while on duty.
