Candidates campaign inside Chamber

Candidates competing for the Presidency began their campaign inside the Chamber itself yesterday (19).

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena adjourned the Parliament until today (20) after receiving the nominations.

After the adjournment of the assembly, the Presidential aspirants who stood up went to the MPs and began their election campaign within the assembly itself.

The candidates running for the post of the next president were seen going to the MPs and asking for support in their election campaigns.

MPs Harin Fernando and Manusha Nanayakkara were seeing accompanying Wickremesinghe.

Wickremesinghe, who first exchanged views with a group of members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, then went to C.V. Wigneswaran. After talking with Wigneswaran for a while, Wickremesinghe then went to another group of MPs.

Dullas Alahapperuma also came to the middle of the chamber and was seen chatting with members of the SJB.

SLFP member Dayasiri Jayasekara embraced Alahapperuma. Vidura Wickremanayake, Geetha Kumarasinghe, Prasanna Ranatunga and Dilan Perera too congratulated Alahapperuma.

Several meetings organized by the respective political parties to seek support for the candidates competing for the presidency were held at the Parliament complex.

Meanwhile, several round of talks were reported outside of parliament as well by the two main sides contesting for Presidency.
