Candidates contesting Parliamentary Elections sign nominations
Many of the main political parties contesting for the 2024 Parliamentary Election signed their nomination papers yesterday (09).
The National People’s Power (NPP) signed its nomination papers yesterday at the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) party headquarters in Pelawatte and will be contesting with 22 groups representing all the 22 districts.
Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya contesting from Colombo district for the 2024 General Election signed the nomination paper on Tuesday (08).
The Samagi Jana Sandhanaya candidates signed the nomination papers to contest the upcoming General Election yesterday at its headquarters in Colombo. Speaking to the media at the time, Dr. Harsha De Silva contesting from the Samagi Jana Sandhanaya for the Colombo district said that this time he is handing over to the people the task to think whether Harsha needs to be elected and sent to the Parliament this time or not and it is solely up to the people in the country to think and decide if he is worthy of the taxes paid by the people or not to sit in the Parliament or else Harsha De Silva should be sent into the dustbin.
The National Democratic Front (NDF) led by the United National Party (UNP) and its political party alliance which is contesting the General Election under the symbol of Gas Cylinder signed its nomination papers yesterday. The signing of nomination papers was held at the elections operations office of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe at Flower Road, Colombo.
The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidates also signed its nomination papers for the upcoming General Election yesterday at the party headquarters at Nelum Mawatha, Battaramulla.
Furthermore, the Jana Aragala Sandhanaya candidates also signed their nomination papers to contest the General Election yesterday.
A total of 33 independent groups and political parties have submitted their nominations until Tuesday (08) to contest the 2024 General Election which will be held on November 14.
