The Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today ordered the acquittal of former Mrs. World Caroline Jurie and model Chula Padmendra in the case linked to the forcible removal of Pushpika De Silva’s crown during the 2021 Mrs. World pageant.

The case alleged that the two accused had stormed the stage, removed the crown placed on Pushpika, and caused her injury.

Delivering the verdict, the Chief Magistrate ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubt.

In relation to the proceedings, since Chula Padmendra has since passed away, her surety appeared in court on her behalf. (Newswire)
