Case against CMC member settled

Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday granted permission for two members of the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) to settle the case filed against them by Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) CMC Member Pradeep Jayawardene.

Pradeep Jayewardene, who is a grandson of late President J. R. Jayewardene, was attacked with chilli powder by another two CMC members.

Attorney-at-Law Mery Dickman representing the accused party told the Magistrate that both parties have reached to an agreement to settle the case as they are members of the same political party.
