Case against nine activists postponed

When the case filed by the Kompanna Veediya Police against nine protesters including popular actress Damitha Abeyratne, General Secretary of Ceylon Teachers Union Joseph Stalin and youth activists Rathindu Senaratne alias ‘Ratta’ for conducting a protest near Fort Magistrate’s Court on July 25 was taken up in courts, Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage ordered to file the complaint on the next court date. The Fort Police filed a further report on the facts to the Court.

The nine suspects on bail related to the incident appeared in open court when the case was called.
