Case against Patali fixed for June 27

The case filed by the Colombo High Court against former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka for an alleged motor accident that took place in 2016 at Rajagiriya was yesterday fixed for June 27 to make submissions over the preliminary objections.

When the case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Namal Balalle, President’s Counsel Sarath Jayamanna appearing for accused Ranawaka informed the Court that they intend to file preliminary objections over the indictment before read it out the charges in the indictment to accused in open court.

Accordingly, the Colombo High Court Judge fixed the case to be taken up again on June 27.

The Attorney General had filed an indictment before the High Court against former MP Patali Champika, on charges of causing grievous injury to a youth named Sandeep Sampath while driving a vehicle in a reckless manner at Rajagiriya in 2016.
