Case against Sakvithi Ranasinghe fixed for December 6

The case filed against popular English tutor Sakvithi Ranasinghe and his wife for allegedly violating the Finance Act, was yesterday fixed for December 6 by the Colombo High Court. When the case was taken up before Colombo High Court Judge Namal Balalle, the amended indictment was produced before the Court by the prosecution.

The Attorney General had filed a case in 2015 against four accused including Sakvithi Ranasinghe and his wife under three counts including violation of the Finance Act 1978 by running a financial institution named Sakvithi Housing and Construction (Pvt) Ltd during the period November 1, 2006 to September 31, 2008.

The prosecution had listed 11 items as productions and named 151 persons as prosecution witnesses.

On a previous occasion, the third and the fourth accused were released from the case.
