The 2023 Literary Award ceremony organised by the National Catholic Writers’ Association was held in a grand manner recently, under the patronage of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Vidura Wickremanayake at the Zedek Institute Auditorium in Colombo.
Twelve literati were honoured with the once in a life time gold award in recognition of their work in the fields of art, mass communication and literature.
They were Rev. Dr. Lal Pushpadeva, Rev. Jude Chrishantha, Rev.Lawrence Ananda, Attorney Godfrey Cooray, Surgeon Dr. Sachitha Mendis, Chaturi Pinthu, Laxman Anthony Perera, Ajith Mendis, Asanka Fernando, Annette Marie Jacintha, Virginie Perera and Sureka Nilmini Ilankoon.
Along with this award ceremony, awards and certificates were presented to 60 winners of the children’s, Christian and national level open literary competition organised by the National Catholic Writers’ Association and the Catholic Association.
The award ceremony was organised by the executive committee including Attorney Godfrey Cooray, president of the National Catholic Writers’ Association, under the patronage of Reverend Jude Chrysantha Fernando, Director of Mass Communication and National Mass Communication of the Colombo Archdiocese.
