CDF soldier run over inside Exams Dept killed

A Civil Defence Force (CDF) soldier was killed after being hit by a lorry inside the Examinations Department premises in Pelawatte Battaramulla on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjeeva Kumara (36), a resident of Galapatha, Kalutara, who was assigned for security duties at the Examinations Department.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that a the driver of the lorry belonging to the examination department lost control of the vehicle and hit the soldier on duty at the main gate. Police said the driver of the lorry had been arrested after the accident and an investigation has been launched.
