Defence State Minister Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon, has addressed the issue concerning the continuation of salaries for members of the Civil Defence Force (CDF) who were killed or became totally disabled during the war.
Previously, these salaries were discontinued upon the recipient reaching 55, causing significant financial difficulties for their next of kin and for members who suffered total disabilities due to the war.
Recognizing the hardships caused by the cessation of salaries at 55 years, Minister Tennakoon has taken this matter to the President, who has now focused on extending these allowances to the affected members and their families.
The Defence Ministry along with Civil Defence Force Director General Air Vice Marshal Roshan Biyanwila are actively seeking Cabinet approval to implement this policy change.
