CEB Engineers’ Union continues ‘work to rule’

The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers’ Union launched the second phase of the ‘work to rule’ action from yesterday citing several demands including the cancellation of the controversial LNG deal with New Fortress Energy of USA.

Further the Engineers’ Union urges the government for continuation of the ongoing LNG tender process. The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Engineers’ Union has been engaged in a trade union action since 12 noon on 25th November,

Besides the Engineers’ TU and other Unions of CEB are demanding a few other demands including not proceeding with the New Fortress Energy LNG deal, not to stop the ongoing transparent tender procedure by CEB for LNG employment, to cease the attempts of unbundling the CEB, to cease proposed amendments for the Board Act No. 17 of 1969, to prevent politicisation of the post of the CEB General Manager and to stop transfers of Senior Management positions.
