CFSL in hot water over non payment of rent

The Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) is in hot water as they are unable to redeem some of their valuable goods worth over Rs. 5 million due to the non-payment of rental fees for several months at a private residence in Delkanda, Nugegoda.

Among this equipment stored at the third floor of this building are over 60 carrom boards, benches, carrom discs, lighting equipment and covers, stools and many other instruments in addition to the valuable documents belonging to the CFSL.

This building at Delkanda was utilised as the Headquarters of the CFSL for some time but following the non-payment of monthly rental fees for a lengthy period, the owners have refused to release the carrom and other equipment. In July last year, the Sports Ministry took over the CFSL following their mismanagement of funds and had written to the CFSL officially to hand over all equipment and goods before August 11, 2021.

This situation created troubles to carrom players who are practicing for the next Carrom World Cup which is to be held in Malaysia in October.
