At the meeting, the Chairman appreciated the efforts extended by the Ambassador in support of the recently concluded Sri Lanka Investment Forum (SLIF) breakout session featuring Korean Investors. The Chairman then briefed the Ambassador regarding other initiatives the BOI is currently engaged in to attract more FDI from Korea.
Both Chairman BOI and the Ambassador were optimistic of the prospect of premier Korean companies investing in Sri Lanka as a result of targeted investment promotion initiatives in the Korean market, orchestrated by the BOI and ably supported by Saj Mendis, Ambassador for Sri Lanka in Korea, KOTRA and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, the BOI will also be collaborating with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Seoul, and the Korean Federation of Textile Industries (KOFOTI) to promote investment opportunities at the Eravur Textile Park in August 2021. This event will be followed by a webinar on investment prospects at the upcoming Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Zone in Hambantota, scheduled for November this year.
