Sri Lanka under 19 whitewash the reigning under 19 world Cricket champions Bangladesh under 19 by 5-0 in the recently concluded youth one day international series which was played at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. Several new records have been established during the five-match series which went unnoticed.

Highest partnership for the second wicket.

The second wicket partnership of 154 runs between Chamindu Wickramsinghe (102) and Shevon Daniel (59) in the fifth Youth One day international is the best by a Sri Lankan pair for this wicket against any country in youth ODI’s. It beats the previous best of 147 jointly held by three pairs.

147 Upultharanga (117) and Nadeera Nawela (56) vs South Africa under – 19 at Fatullah in 2003/04.

147 Hsitha Boyagoda (191) and Nishan Madushka (60) vs Kenya at Lincoln in 2017/18.

147 Kaveen Bandara (86) and Akeel Inham (83*) Vs Australia U-19 at SSC in 2014/15.

It also beats the previous best of 124 runs against Bangladesh under 19 between Lasith Lakshan (71) and Charith Asalanka (63) at Colts grounds in 2014/15.

Also Chamindu Wickramasinghe’s 102 in the fifth youth ODI is the highest individual score by a Sri Lankan under 19 batter against Bangladesh under 19 in youth internationals.

Highest partnership for the eighth wicket

An unbeaten eighth wicket partnership of 66 runs between Shevon Daniel (8t) and Wanuja Sahan (38) is the new record for Sri Lanka under 19 against Bangladesh under 19 in youth ODI’s and it beats the previous best of 58 between Angelo Mathews (97) and Shaika Karunanayake (0) at Savar in 2005/06.

Smallest margin of victory (by runs)

Sri Lanka under 19 thrilling one run victory over Bangladesh under 19 in the second youth one day international is the closest victory in the annals of youth ODI’s for Sri Lanka it beats the previous best of 4 runs victory also against the same opposition of Colts ground in 2014/15 season. Sri Lanka under 19 cricketers won the fifth and final ODI also by four runs in 2021/22.

Smallest margin of victory (by wickets)

Sri Lanka under 19 beat Bangladesh under 19 by one wicket in the fourth match of the series and this is the fifth time that Sri Lanka emulated this feat in youth ODI’s.

The other occasions are vs Australia under 19 at Melbourne 1984 vs Pakistan under 19 at P. Sara Stadium 2009 vs England under 19 at Dubai DSC 2014 vs England under 19 at Chelmsford 2016.

Winning every match of the series (Whitewash)

This is the third whitewash and first ever 5-0 victory for Sri Lanka under 19s in youth ODI’s 3-0 vs Australia under 19 2013/14 (Kusal Mendis (2) and Sadeera Samrawickrama (1) 3-0 vs England under 19 2016 (Charith Asalanka 3) 5-0 Bangladesh under 19 (Dunith Wellalage 5).

At the end of the series. Sri Lanka under 19 have played 302 youth one day internationals, the second country to reach that target. Just behind England young Cricketers (327) and winning 144 and 14 no result (50.00%)

In the Sri Lanka under 19 vs Bangladesh under 19 series tally stands at Played 52 Sri Lanka won 23 Lost 26 no result 3.
