Chanaka and Reshan for All India Golf Tourney
Sri Lanka’s leading golfers, Chanaka Perera and Reshan Algama, have left the island yesterday to participate in the upcoming All India Amateur Golf Tournament in Kolkata, India from December 11 to 17.
Reshan Algama, a 15-year-old student at Colombo International School, has etched his name in Sri Lankan golf history by becoming the youngest player to clinch victory in three National Ranking Tournaments within the span of a single calendar year in 2023.
Algama currently holds the 557th global ranking, marking a remarkable achievement in his budding golf career. Chanaka Perera, an alumnus of DS Senanayake College, holds the 599th
position in the world rankings. As the former top-ranked golfer in Sri Lanka for several consecutive years, Perera brings a wealth of experience to the tournament. Both players proudly represent the Royal Colombo Golf Club, having been selected by the Sri Lanka Golf Selection Committee based on their outstanding performances throughout the year.
The 122nd Amateur Championship of India is set to host a diverse field of over 120 players from around the world, adding a global dimension to this prestigious golf event.
