Chanul Ranitha Narayana the karate star from Kurunegala
Fourteen year old Karate and Roller Skating player Gold Medalist in Kata and Kumite in the under 12 age group at the Asia Cup 4th Open International Karate Championship held in Bombay, India in 2018 and a Bronze Medalist in the All Island Junior Nationals in Roller Skating Chanul Ranitha Yaneth Bandara Narayana has brought honour and immense glory to his country and his alma mater Defence College Kurunegala with his deeds in the field of sports.

Chanul was born on 8th July 2007 and hails from Maspotha Kurunegala and he was admitted to Defence College Kurunegala in 2013 when Mr.Rathnayake was at the helm of the school and his first class teacher was Mrs.Samanthi. From his smaller days he was keen in Karate and noticing this his Parents Major S.A.B. Narayana and AchalaRajakaruna handed over him to the Karate Coach Prabath Jayawardene in 2017.
After a hard and strenuous training he participated in the All Island Schools Karate Championship in 2017 and he was among the Best Eight and received Merit Certificates in the under 12 age group in Kata and Kumite.
Same year at the Kurunegala Do Federation Tournament he won a Gold Medal for Kata and at the North Western Tournament he won two Golds for Kata and Kumite in the under 14 age group and once again competing in the under 14 age group in 2018 he was among the Best Eight in Kata and received a Merit Certificate.
Same year he was selected for the 4th Open International Karate Championship held in Bombay India and he won Gold Medals for Kata and Kumite and for this Tournament six countries participated and ten finalists were chosen for the finals for each event.
Then in 2019 at the District Tournament he grabbed a Gold in Kata and a Bronze in Kumite and in the Provincial Meet he won two Golds for Kata and Kumite.
In 2021 at the All Island Competition held on Video uploading and at the under 16 age group he was among the sixteen and received a Merit Certificate.
His school Coach is Mr. Niroshan. In the meantime he is doing Roller Skating and in the 2021 School Junior Nationals in Two Kilometre Event he won a Bronze Medal and his Coach is Prabath Kapugedara and his Principal Mr. Rathnayake is always supportive of him and so far he has clinched Eight Golds and Two Bronzes.
