Chartered Accountancy firms teach on hiding profits from businesses to reduce tax slabs – Ashu
President’s Parliamentary Affairs Senior Advisor Ashu Marasinghe said 27 Chartered Accountancy firms in Sri Lanka have been identified as teaching how to hide taxes without showing profits from businesses. Marasinghe further said that this is a big crisis in the economy and officials of those institutions should be looked into and it is clear that Government officials are more corrupt than the politicians. He said this while speaking at the press conference held yesterday (14) at the Sirikotha UNP Headquarters.
Marasinghe also said: I am very happy with the current situation of our country, which was anarchy without gas, fuel, and food. No matter who makes the allegations, the President has set policies regarding where this country should go with clear criteria and reasons.
Also, the President declared that we will receive the second installment of 337 million US dollars from the International Monetary Fund. Accordingly, we are able to receive the second installment of the loan amount of US dollars 3 billion to be received this way. A lawsuit against Customs, Inland Revenue and Excise Officers is being considered if they are undervaluing their duties and failing to collect taxes as required.
“These 27 accountancy firms are advising on how to hide taxes and not show profits. Journalists should find out about the officers of these 27 agencies that are blocking Government revenue.
