He initially commenced participating in the inter house athletic meet in 2011 and won the 75 and 100 metres and came third in the long jump and participating in the Divisional Meet he was unsuccessful and in the following year he won 75 and 100 metres and came second in long jump and in the next year he became the school under 13 Champion by winning long jump, high jump and 100 meters and in the divisional, zonal and provincial meets he won places and in 2016 he became the under 15 Champion and there too he won places in divisional, zonal and provincial but he did not participate for the John Tarbet Meet and once again he became the under 16 Champion and in the divisional, zonal and provincial he won places.

In the mean time in addition to athletics his parents Palitha Jayathilake and Kamani Swarnakanthi realizing his interest and keenness for cricket admitted him to the school cricket academy in 2011 and he came under Harsha Srinath and Duminda Lakmal. Initially he was selected in the under 13 division one team and in the following year representing the under 15 team he passed 350 run mark which included a century and a fifty and claimed 14 wickets and in the following year he got 200 runs with a fifty and captured 24 wickets with one five wicket haul and with these deeds under his belt he was selected for the pool for schools under 15 tour of Malaysia and his coaches were Nisansala Mendis and Anuk Perera.

Then playing in the under 17 team he scored 243 runs with a fifty and claimed 18 wickets. As an under 17 player his first year in the first eleven team was in 2018/19 season and he scored 180 runs and bagged 12 wickets and played for the Big Match and the Limited over match against their arch rivals Moratu Vidyalaya and in the following year he got 130 runs and 14 scalps and in his third year he won cricket colours. His coaches were Manoj Shanaka and Kelum Fernando and the Master in Charge was Mr. Nishantha. When Sumangalians clinched the under 19 Division Two Cricket Tournament he was a member of the team. After leaving school he played for the under 23 team of Police Department and at present he is a member of the Police Premier Cricket Squad.
