Charuka Kaduwela outstanding netball player of Girls’ High School, Kandy
She started her netball career in 2013 under the guidance of former national women’s cricketer Suwini de Alwis.
Charuka played in the positions of goal attack and goal shoot and she is currently the senior prefect of the school.
She led the Under-14 netball team to emerge Zonal and Provincial champions in the tournament organised by the Department of Education.
Her teammates were Gayanjali Amarawansha, Aloka Dissanayake, Anuththara Wickremasinghe and Vinuki Boyagoda.
She was also a member of the champion Under-15 netball team in 2017/18.
Charuka played a vital role for her school as an outstanding netball player and continued to become the zonal netball champions in 2016/17.
She played under the captaincy of Dulmini Thilakaratne and they won the championship organised by the Kurunegala Sports Club.
Girls’ High School emerged second runners-up at the Pesta Bola Jaring Netball Tournament held in Malaysia in 2017 and Charuka was appointed captain of the schools netball team in 2020/21.
