In a celebration of talent and ambition, the Accounting and Financial Management Association (AFMA), the student body of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura is set to host ‘Chathurmaana’, the inter-university talent competition powered by LB Finance PLC, with the aim of showcasing the hidden potential of Sri Lankan undergraduates.

The Department of Accounting at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, dating back to 1991, stands as a beacon in academic accounting education in Sri Lanka. With a commitment to empowering youth and shaping their professionalism, the department has a rich history of achievements that have redefined the boundaries of accounting education. ‘Chathurmaana’ is an extension of this legacy, aiming to discover the true potential of the country’s young talent.

Known for organizing many impactful initiatives, AFMA is now gearing up to elevate the legacy of excellence with the third edition of ‘Chathurmaana’. It was previously unveiled in 2018 and 2019, and made waves in the Sri Lankan university landscape, transcending expectations. ‘Chathurmaana’, a brainchild of AFMA, is not just a competition; it is a platform designed to unveil the untapped talents of undergraduates from all 16 state universities across Sri Lanka.

The anticipation and excitement surrounding Chathurmaana this year have reached unparalleled heights, with over 300 applications flooding in for team and individual performances encompassing singing, dancing, drama, music, stand-up comedy, beat boxing and more.

The journey to discover Sri Lanka’s hidden gems in the university system began on August 26, with an astounding 800 undergraduates participating in the preliminary round. From this pool of exceptional talent, 45 emerged as semi-finalists, showcasing their skills in a spectacular event on September 9. As the dust settled, the competition intensified, leading to the selection of the final nine contenders who will vie for the championship.

The grand finale of ‘Chathurmaana’, set to take place on October 12, at the National Youth Centre Auditorium in Maharagama, promises to be a star-studded event with the inclusion of celebrities and artistes.

The event is eagerly awaited by enthusiasts and promises an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
