Chef held for carrying cigarettes worth Rs.2.1 Mn
Katunayake Airport Police anti-narcotics department officers arrested a passenger who brought a stock of foreign made cigarettes worth Rs. 2.1 mn from Dubai to Sri Lanka in the early hours of yesterday 18. The passenger, who worked as a chef in a restaurant in Dubai, is a 38-year-old resident of Nattandiya.
He had arrived at Katunayaka Airport on Fitz Air at 05.50 am yesterday (18). Over 21,000 foreign manufactured cigarettes of various brands were in his luggage.The passenger and the seized cigarette stock were produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
