Chided by parents, youth addicted to mobile games ends life

Investigations have revealed that the 18-year-old youth who committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of Theldeniya Hospital was admitted to the hospital in a state of depression after injuring himself because his parents took his mobile phone.

It is reported that the young man has been spending about 18 hours a day with the phone and when his parents warned him about it, he injured his body on several occasions.

The Police said that the young man had also written a letter before committing suicide. It has been revealed that the victim is addicted to mobile games and isolated himself without having contact with anyone in the family.

Kandy District Provincial Health Services Director Senaka Talagala has informed the hospital administration to conduct an investigation and submit a report regarding the suicide.
