Chief Magistrate issues summons on Ven. Galwewa Siridhamma Thera

Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis yesterday issued summons   to Ven. Galwewa Siridhamma Thera, the Convener of the Inter-University Bhikshu Bala Balamandalaya, to appear before the Court on June 23 to state the facts regarding the violation of the Court order.

The Colombo Terrorist Investigation Unit submitted a motion to the Court and the Magistrate made this order on the notification that the Thera has violated the order to report to the Colombo Terrorist Investigation Division every two months, which is a bail condition imposed by the court.

The Thera was scheduled to report to the Colombo Terrorist Investigation Unit on May 28, but the Terrorist Investigation Unit had reported to the Court that on that day, the Thera had not reported to the division. Ven. Galnawa Siridhamma Thera, who was arrested by the Colombo Terrorism Investigation Unit under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, was released on bail by the Court in November 2022.
