Child sex racket: Another two arrested

A former bank manager and a police officer were arrested yesterday over the sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old girl. They were remanded by Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage till July 20.

Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said these two suspects have been arrested in connection with the child exploitation incident unearthed in June in Mount Lavinia.

The CID and the Women and Children’s Bureau arrested the ex-bank manager and the police officer.

Several prominent persons were arrested in connection with this incident previously including a cardiologist, a former Maldivian State Minister and over 30 others. A hotel manager and several others who operated websites were also arrested in connection with the incident.

The Police Spokesman said that investigations are continuing based on the information gathered through the girl’s mobile phone records.
