Twelve year old Karateka and Gold Medalist of the India Nepal and Sri Lanka Tri Nation Karate Tournament held in Sri Lanka Chiran Lasitha Wijewardena has brought honour and glory to his alma mater Royal College Wayamba Kurunegala and his motherland in Karate.

private karate coach Prabath Jayawardane of Kurunegala in 2017 and at his first attempt in the Kurunegala District Karate Tournament he won a Gold Medal and in the North Western Provincial Karate Meet he grabbed another Gold for Kata and in the All Island Junior National Karate Championship he won a Gold for Kata in the under 7 age group and in the NWP Competition he won a Gold for Kata and a Silver for Kumite and at the Kurunegala District Meet he won a Gold for Kata and a Bronze for Kumite and at the Junior Nationals he came up to Best Eight and in the Sri Lanka Schools Tournament he won a Bronze.

In 2019 competing in the under 9 age group at the District Meet he won a Silver for Kata and a Bronze for Kumite and at the NWP Meet he won a Gold for Kata and a Bronze for Kumite and at the NWP Meet in the same year he won a Bronze for the Team Event and in the Shotokan Open Karate Championship Federation Meet he won a Gold for Kata and a Silver for Kumite and in the same year at the Sri Lanka Shotokan Do Federation Open Meet he won a Gold for Kata and a Silver for Kumite and with all these performances under his belt he was selected for the Tri Nation Tournament which includes Sri Lanka Nepal and India held in Sri Lanka and he won a Gold for Kata and a Silver for Kumite in the under 10 age group.

Then in 2021 at the Junior Nationals held in Bandaragama he participated in the under 10 age group in Kata and Kumite and in addition he has achieved Best Results at the various Club Meets too Chiran has won 21 medals which includes eight Golds five Silvers and eight Bronzes.
