Christina Perumal the swimming star from AIS

Asian International School’s swimming sensation, Christina Perumal, clinched three gold medals, securing her position as the champion in the Under-20 category at the recently concluded 28th Inter-International Swimming Championship held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool on Saturday.

Christina’s outstanding performances led her to victory in the 200m Individual Medley, 50m Breaststroke, and 100m Breaststroke events. Clocking impressive timings of 2:44.45 in the 200m IM, 36.45 in the 50m Breaststroke, and 1:20.16 in the 100m Breaststroke finals, she showcased exceptional swimming skills.

This triumphant display not only brought glory to Christina but also elevated AIS, the tournament organizer, to the sixth position in the 21-team TISSL tournament, spanning two days.

The 28th edition, meticulously organized by Asian International School, adhered to systematic methods, ensuring efficient marshalling of swimmers and preventing any missed events.

Christina’s three gold medals contributed to AIS’s overall success, with the AIS Sports Department, led by Nihara Bagoos, achieving a remarkable tally of nine gold medals, six silver medals, and a dozen bronze medals.

This outstanding performance totaled 27 medals for AIS in the medal-winning list among the 17 competing teams.
