CID grills YouTuber Dharshana Handungoda over statement

The Criminal Investigation Department recorded a statement from social media person Darshana Handungoda, for nearly eight hours on Monday regarding a statement he made over a YouTube channel stating that an Additional Solicitor General of the Attorney General’s Department and a Government Advocate have acted for their own personal gain while giving instructions when filing a case relating to seeking compensation for the environmental damage caused to Sri Lanka by the plastic pellets of the X-Press Pearl ship which caught fire and sank within Sri Lankan waters.

A senior official of the Criminal Investigation Department stated that statement was obtained from him following a complaint made by an Additional Solicitor General of the Attorney General’s Department and a State Attorney against Handungoda.

A statement was recorded from him from 9 am to 5.30 pm, on Monday.
