An investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has revealed that a stock of Urea fertilizer imported for distribution among farmers at concessionary prices has been sold illegally to several private industries in 2018, National Fertilizer Office (NFO) sources said.
This Urea fertilizer has been sold to these factories using fraudulent documents and with the knowledge of several officers of the National Fertilizer Office, it has been revealed.
The companies involved in the importation of the fertilizer stock in question has sold them to these factories at a higher price and had presented documents to the National Fertilizer Office to claim money as well, the investigation has revealed.
The investigations by the CID have also been able to thwart an attempt by several senior officers of the NFO to allocate money for the importation of fertilizer to a Dubai-based Company which is not entitled to receive money under this scheme.
