Colombo bourse back in green territory
Colombo bourse bounced back to the green territory yesterday with local and foreign investor interest.
Thus, All-Share Price Index increased by 3.2 points (+0.0%) to close at 8,910.6 for the day whilst S&P SL20 Index also gained by 15.3 points (+0.5%) to close at 2,962.3. Ceylinco Insurance, Hatton National Bank, Commercial Bank, Richard Pieris and Asiri Hospitals remained as the top negative contributors to the ASPI during the day. Further, broader market’s total turnover stood at Rs. 2,721.3 mn against the 12-month average daily turnover of Rs. 4,486.1 mn, whilst the volume traded for the day was 115,688.4k against the 12-month average daily volume of 214,595.4k. Insurance, Banks and Capital Goods mostly contributed to yesterday’s turnover.
The top turnover generators for yesterday were Lanka IOC Rs.578.9 mn (+1.1%), Expolanka Holdings Rs. 313.5 mn (+0.4%), Lankem Developments Rs. 208.4 mn (+23.7%), Browns Investments Rs.84.7 mn (+1.2%) and LOLC Holdings Rs. 83.1 mn (+3.4%). Foreigners recorded a net inflow of Rs. 83.2 mn yesterday. Foreign purchases stood at Rs. 147.8 mn whilst total foreign sales amounted to Rs.64.6 mn. Additionally, Lankem Ceylon, Lankem Developments, Sri Lanka Telecom, Udapussellawa Plantations and Renuka Agri Foods were the top price gainers yesterday whilst Nation Lanka Finance, Sanasa Dev. Bank, Chrissworld and Ceylinco Insurance were the top price losers.
