The Colombo High Court yesterday ordered the acquittal of Aluthgamage Nilanka Rasani, who is alleged to be the mistress of underworld figure Kosgoda Tharaka and one of her associates, from the case filed against them for allegedly possessing five kgs of heroin. Delivering the verdict, Colombo High Court Judge Adithya Patabendige observed that the prosecution had been unable to prove the charges against the accused beyond reasonable doubts.
Considering the facts and the evidence transpired during the trial the Colombo HC Judge ordered to acquit and release the both accused from the case. The Attorney General had filed an indictment in the Colombo HC against Aluthgamage Nilanka Rasani and Mohammad Sakeer for possessing five kgs of heroin (gross weight around 13kgs).
