Colombo Land Registrar arrested over forged documents probe
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a female Land Registrar attached to a Colombo‑area Land Registrar’s Office on Tuesday (07), in connection with a probe into forged documents.
According to the CID’s Financial Crimes Investigation Unit, the suspect had allegedly provided second copies of deeds and register‑bound documents to outside parties, thereby aiding organized crime, conspiring, and preparing forged documents against lawful owners to unlawfully transfer lands.
The suspect is a 51‑year‑old resident of Pannipitiya.
The CID’s Financial Crimes Investigation Unit is conducting further investigations into the case. (Newswire)
