Commercial cannabis cultivation Gazette in next two weeks – State Minister

The Gazette notification for the legalisation of cannabis is expected to be issued within the next two weeks. It mentions the name Medicinal Cannabis Cultivation with its related laws and regulations, Indigenous Medicine State Minister Sisira Jayakody stated.

He further said that, even after the passing of the law, everyone is not allowed to cultivate this at all; this industry is only carried out for the purpose of export, subject to strict ethical restrictions under a strict supervision of the investment zones. Legalization of cannabis was proposed in Sri Lanka sometime ago and I have advocated for the legalisation of cannabis in Sri Lanka for many years, he mentioned.
