Confident of carrying forward President’s mandate – PM

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya yesterday expressed confidence that people will ensure victory of NPP at the upcoming parliamentary election, enabling the President to carry forward his programme of work.

Addressing the media after handing over the nominations to the Colombo District Returning Officer yesterday, Dr. Amarasuriya said that people will uphold the mandate given by them at the next parliament election too. She said that the representation of women in the parliamentary election is commendable, with five NPP female candidates competing in the election from the Colombo district.

“We have ensured the inclusion of women representatives in each district, and we are optimistic about setting a new precedent by increasing opportunities for women’s representation in parliament”, she said.
