Confident Wesley out to pile more misery on Petes
Wesley College will look to secure an elusive place in the Super Round stage when they take on the hapless St. Peter’s College outfit in their Inter-Schools Under-20 ‘A’ Division League Rugby Tournament match at Bambalapitiya today.
The Wesleyites are currently placed second in group-2 having recorded two wins from three outings and another sterling performance will certainly put the issue beyond doubt with another game in hand.
Even then, Wesley will need to guard against complacency as the Peterites are capable of fighting back after last week’s setback against the former champions Isipathana College.
However, St. Peter’s with two defeats already are facing a daunting task to reach the top two in this group and they will need a huge turnaround of fortunes and the other results to go in their favour in order to reach the top two.
In contrast, Wesley have all the reasons to feel confident as they have dished out some superb open rugby and will look to keep the momentum following their morale boosting 38-10 victory over Science College.
Science v Vidyartha
Vidyartha College will look to maintain their impressive record this season when they take on Science College in another Inter-Schools Under-20 ‘A’ Division League Tournament match at the Science College Grounds in Ratmalana today.
Vidyartha are in with an outside chance of making it to the Super Round stage from Group-2 having recorded two wins from three outings including a stunning 11-7 win against the former champions St. Peter’s.
In contrast, the underdogs Science College are playing for pride as they are in search of their maiden victory of the tournament having figured in a 15-15 drawn encounter against Dharmaraja College.
Isipathana v Dharmaraja
Isipathana College will look to consolidate their position in Group-2 when they meet Dharmaraja in another Inter-Schools Under-20 ‘A’ Division match at Havelock Park today.
Isipathana are currently on top of the points table and should not have any difficulties in recording their fourth successive victory of the tournament.
