Constable who lost his way in jungle found from nearby village

Madu Police say that a constable who was among a police team in Mannar, who went to Madu Reserve to collect dry firewood was found 48 hours after he had gone missing.

He is said to have lost his way in the jungle and was found from a village nearby.

An operation had been launched in the Madu Reserve since Wednesday afternoon (19) to find this constable and he was found yesterday (20) afternoon.

A team, consisting of three police sergeants and four constables, had entered the reserve in a tractor.

The group, who were collecting dry firewood, took rest at the foot of a tree to drink tea and at that time they had noticed that one constable was missing.

The sergeant in charge of this group had informed the Mannar Divisional Police Chief about the incident and then the search operation had been launched.
