Contract killer shot dead by Police

Investigations have revealed that the underworld criminal who was killed in a shootout with Kandana Police officers yesterday morning (16) in a house in Pamunuwila, Gonawala, is a contract killer working for several underworld drug dealers based in Dubai.

The Police said that this person is behind the fatal shooting of a fish trader in Kandana on October 5. He is said to have committed the crime on contract after the fish trader refused to pay Rs. 10 million demanded by an underworld criminal staying in Dubai. An operation was launched to arrest the gunman yesterday morning according to the information received by the Kandana Police that he was hiding in this house located in Sapugaskanda, Gonawala, Pamunuwila.

A senior Police officer stated that when a police team raided the house at around 3.25 am, shots were fired at the Police from the house and the Police retaliated.

Police said that the suspect died in the operation. It has also been revealed that this house belongs to a close relative of deceased drug kingpin Makandure Madush.

The suspect killed in the shooting was Raja Ramaiah (43), a resident of the Angoda Delgahawatte area. Police information revealed that he was also an accused in a triple murder that took place in the Wattala area.
