Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL) will record an Rs. 20.2 billion net profit for the 2023 year-end, said its Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri.

Commenting on the AASL annual report for the year 2022 released on May 31, 2023, he said that the AASL made a Profit after Tax of Rs. 4,803 million. This was Rs. 2,084 million in 2021. “We hope to improve this to Rs. 20 billion-plus at the end of the year.”

The AASL has a revenue of Rs. 27,647 million as against the Rs. 7,879 recorded in 2021. Operational Profit also increased from Rs. 3,776 a year ago to Rs. 12,705 million. In addition, the company contributed Rs. 1,983 million to the government of Sri Lanka in the financial year 2022.

AASL is a fully government-owned company with statutory powers to manage and develop civil international airports in Sri Lanka. AASL is the appointed agent of the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) to discharge its duties in the capacity of a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He said that this revenue was earned by managing and operating Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), Colombo International Airport Ratmalana (CIAR), Batticaloa Airport (BTA), and Jaffna International Airport (JIA).

AASL also handled 5,503,198 International Passenger Movements and 37,641 International Aircraft Movements while Cargo movements were 173,597 MT. The AASL also had 23,846 Overflying Movements. AASL also facilitated 719,978 International Tourists.

AASL for infrastructure and other expenses had invested Rs. 88,308 million. in 2022.
