Cop arrested over aiding and abetting suspect’s escape

A Police Sergeant was arrested by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department’s Mass Robbery Investigation Division on the charge of aiding and abetting the escape of a suspect involved in a number of crimes.

A sergeant attached to Narammala Police Station has been arrested for assisting the robber who was arrested by the Alawwa Police to escape in 2010 when he was working at Alawwa Police Station.

On July 26, 2010, Alawwa Police arrested the suspect who was later admitted to the Alawwa Hospital for treatment under Police protection. The Police Sergeant was in charge of the security of the suspect who had escaped on July 27, 2010. A subsequent investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department revealed that he had allegedly escaped with the assistance of the Police Sergeant in question. According to Police information, the Police Sergeant was summoned before the Criminal Investigation Department on Thursday (18) and arrested.
