Cop suspended for not recording complaint
Kurunegala Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) has taken steps to suspend a constable of the Mawathagama Police for not recording a complaint regarding an assault, on Tuesday (18).
The constable was working at the Mawathagama Police Station after receiving a temporary transfer from the Nelliady Police Station.
This constable was deployed from 6.00 pm on July 17 to 6.00 am the following morning for duties, including receiving complaints at the Police station.
While this officer was on duty, a resident of Wa Uda Kanduruanga village, Mawathagama, came to the Police Station to complain that his daughter-in-law was being assaulted by his son.
Mawathagama Police found out that this constable has not accepted the complaint and the complainant then informed the Senior Police officers about this.
Accordingly, the Kurunegala ASP took steps to conduct an investigation and suspend this officer.
