Cops who had free dinner in hot water

The Kadawatha Police have started an investigation regarding a constable of the Colombo Municipal Traffic Emergency Call Unit and another person who pretended to be Kadawatha Police officers and went to a hotel near Kirillawala College in Kadawatha and had food without paying on Friday (8) night.

With the initiation of the investigation, the officer of the Traffic Emergency Call Unit admitted to the Colombo National Hospital claiming that he was assaulted by the officers of the Kadawatha Police. Police say that after the two of them ate at the hotel, they prepared to leave the place without paying the bill and the owner of the hotel had informed an Inspector of Kadawatha Police and accordingly a Police team went there.

When the Inspector and the team went to the hotel, the suspects prepared to leave after paying the money. Police information disclosed that when the Kadawatha Police officers inquired about the identity of those persons, one of them showed a Police ID card and ran away after arguing with the officers.

The officer who fled the scene had admitted himself to the Colombo National Hospital.
