Couple arrested for defrauding over Rs.7 Mn promising jobs overseas
A couple who defrauded over Rs. 7 million by claiming that they would find jobs in Canada, Germany and France was arrested in Panadura yesterday.
A senior police officer said Panadura South Police had received 13 complaints related to money fraud and the suspect couple was arrested while they were leaving the Panadura
Magistrate’s Court where they had come to attend another judicial matter. Police said that during inspection of the house where the suspect couple resides in Moragalle, they found documents, including passport copies and receipts where money had been handed over.
The suspects were to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate’s Court. Officer-In-Charge of Crimes Division is conducting investigations.
