
A married couple has been arrested in Werahera for allegedly producing and selling forged temporary driving licences for around one and a half years, police said.
The 49-year-old man and his 43-year-old wife, both residents of Janatha Mawatha in Werahera, were arrested on Sunday (04) by officers of the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau.
Police said the arrests were made during an investigation launched after a person was found in possession of a forged temporary driving licence.
The couple was arrested in the Janatha Mawatha area of Werahera, while police also recovered a forged temporary driving licence during the operation.
Further investigations revealed that the suspects had allegedly been producing forged temporary driving licences and selling them for money for approximately one and a half years.
The suspects were handed over to the Mount Lavinia Police Station, which is conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
