Couple engaged in drug trafficking held

The Udasirigama Police in the Chilaw Police division arrested a couple engaged in drug trafficking through the Easy Cash system along with 5 grams and 200 milligrams of heroin.

The arrested couple are residents of the Botalegama area.The male suspect is 28 years and the female suspect is 24.

Nineteen packs of drugs sold at Rs.2,500 per pack and five packs sold at Rs.5,000 per pack were also found in their possession that was seized.

Based on a tip-off received by the Police Intelligence Division, the sleuths arrested the couple by using money in the Easy Cash system. Preliminary investigations have revealed that they have been involved in drug trafficking for a long time.

Udasirigama OIC IP S. Wedisinghe and Crimes OIC N. M. Dissanayake together with a group of Police officers carried out the raid.
