Couple wanted for murder arrested at BIA
A couple who were trying to flee the country after committing a murder were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on Saturday night (30) by the Police.
They are alleged to have committed a murder in the Mount Lavinia police area on July 27.
A 31-year-old man named Subasingha Siriwardena Nuwan Chinthaka and a 19-year-old woman named Anuradha Sevwandi have been arrested in this regard. The police were looking for the couple wanted in connection with the murder of a male person on July 27. The Police had received information they were trying to flee to Dubai following the murder. Accordingly, a temporary flight ban has been imposed against them by the Katunayake Airport Immigration Department officials.
On July 30 the couple had arrived at Katunayake Airport to board Emirates Airlines flight EK-653 departing for Dubai and they were arrested by the Police. Katunayake Airport Police have handed them over to the Mount Lavinia Police for further action.
