The Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today (15) issued a notice to the Director of Colombo National Hospital to appear in court on 22 September and explain the failure to submit medical reports concerning former State Intelligence Service Director Suresh Sallay.
The order was made after Additional Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris, appearing for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), requested the court to take action over the non‑submission of the reports.
The reports were expected to clarify whether Sallay, who is currently detained and questioned in connection with the Easter Sunday terrorist attack investigations, requires continued inpatient treatment at the National Hospital.
Despite earlier instructions, the reports were not presented to court today, prompting the Magistrate to issue the notice.
Meanwhile, the court imposed a foreign travel ban on Ranjan Senarath Bandara, a police inspector who previously served in the State Intelligence Service.
He was identified as a person required for investigations, and the ban was imposed due to concerns that he may attempt to flee the country. (Newswire)
