Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage issued an order yesterday (27) to the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to grant permission yesterday itself for the signature of the suspect to be obtained on the Writ application filed by Nandun Chinthaka Wickremaratne alias ‘Harak Kata’ at the Court of Appeal.

After considering the request made by a panel of lawyers by filing a motion on behalf of the suspect, the Magistrate ordered the Court Registrar to inform the Director of the relevant order yesterday itself.

The lawyers informed the court that although a court order had been issued to the CID in this regard, the CID was not acting accordingly. The lawyers also informed the court that when they went to obtain the signature, the CID had informed them that no such order had been received. The lawyers informed Magistrate Gamage that the police officers of the division where Harak Kata is being kept are charging hundreds of thousands of rupees even to bring him a foodparcel.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday (25), Fort Magistrate Gamage had gone to the CID to see Harak Kata and ‘Kudu Salindu’ and observed them for about an hour.
