Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika C. Ragala yesterday (5) ordered the CID to file a complaint under sections 164 and 174 of the Penal Code against Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini for disobeying the order of government officials.
The Magistrate issued the order after considering a statement made that although the CID has asked Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando to appear before the CID on two occasions to investigate the complaint made by State Intelligence Service Chief Maj.Gen.Suresh Sallay, regarding the allegations made by Fr. Cyril Gamini and others regarding the Easter Sunday attacks and he had not yet given a statement.
CID officer Palitha Sarath Kumara told court that he had visited St. Anthony’s Church in Negombo on two occasions and informed Fr. Cyril Gamini. Accordingly, in the absence of Fr. Cyril Gamini, the CID requested court to issue a notice to the priest to arrive at the CID and provide his statement.
The Magistrate directed the CID to confirm the notices made earlier through the affidavits and said that an appropriate order would be issued thereafter.
