The Kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday ordered Police to conduct a genetic test (DNA test) on a Pomeranian pet dog due to two parties claiming rights and submit the report to Court.
A resident of Paranthan, Kilinochchi area first filed a complaint with the Police and said that his dog had gone missing. A few days later, the dog returned to his home. The next day, another person in Kilinochchi came to the Police station and made a complaint that his pet dog was being kept by force by another person.
Later, both parties were called to the Police and the complaint recorded, but the two refused to come to an amicable agreement and Police had to refer the issue of the dog to Court.
The person who claimed to be the original owner of the dog had told Court that the mother of the dog he is raising is in another place in Kilinochchi. He also declared to Court that he bought this dog from that house. Accordingly, the Kilinochchi Magistrate ordered Police to carry out a genetic test on the dog and submit a report to Court to find the rightful owner of the dog.
