Court orders media to submit video clips
Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela on Monday issued an order directing all media channels to hand over to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) unedited video clips pertaining to the theft of the T56 firearm and two magazines containing 30 rounds of live ammunition from an Army soldier during the protest at Polduwa Junction on July 13.
The Magistrate made this order pursuant to a request made by the Colombo Crimes Division. The Colombo Crimes Division informed the Magistrate that they had commenced an investigation into the incident. “A T-56 firearm and bullets belonging to the Army have been stolen by protesters who clashed with troops near Parliament on July 13,” Police said.
The Police further said the Army soldier attached to a camp in Wellawaya was also injured during the attack by the protesters.
